 'Almost all' of Syria liberated from terrorists – Putin


Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the Syrian army with Russian support have liberated "almost all" Syrian territory from the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL), speaking at a meeting with representatives of the local Orthodox churches in Novo-Ogaryovo, Monday.

According to Putin, there is still a lot to be done in order to restore normalcy in the war-ravaged country. However, he noted that the country has been almost fully liberated, "including those places where Christians have historically lived."

He went on to say that Russia will help both Christians and representatives of other religions in Syria. "We will work on this problem together," he assured.
