Combat robots & drones used at Zapad 2017 episodes, Kaliningrad region
The Zapad 2017 strategic exercise sees intensive application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and the Platform-M combat robot.
The Grusha and Orlan drones are widely used by the motorized rifle units of the Baltic Fleet Costal and Airborne Troops in course of tactical episodes at Pravdinsky range, Kaliningrad region.
The drones are operated to assess target destruction effectiveness and adjust artillery and tank fire. Besides, the UAVs considerably reduce the time needed to detect a target. The latest equipment of drones can track several targets simultaneously, and go undetected.
The Paltform-M remote-operated tracked combat robot is used by the motorized rifle units and paratroopers to drill eliminating of illegal armed groups in urban environment, and delivering strikes on static and moving targets. The robot is armed with four grenade launchers and Kalashnikov assault rifles. It is also designed to conduct reconnaissance and make passages in mine fields.
