President Donald J. Trump spoke today with President Xi Jinping of China to discuss North Korea’s September 3 test of a powerful nuclear device.  The two leaders condemned North Korea’s latest provocative and destabilizing action and noted North Korea’s current path is dangerous to the world and not in its own interest.  President Trump and President Xi committed to strengthen coordination and take further action with the goal of achieving the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

The exercises began last week at several locations in Russia and Belarus and will be conducted until Wednesday. Russia sent around 3,000 troops to neighboring Belarus, where they are training at six locations along with 7,000 soldiers and officers of the host nation. Russia welcomed Belarusian troops at three sites, including the Luzhsky range in Leningrad region. Less than 13,000 troops are taking part in the exercise in total, according to figures from the defense ministries of Russia and Belarus. Several US media outlets to be banned from State Duma events - Zakharova Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that up to ten US media outlets will be banned from visiting the lower house of Russian parliament, speaking in a meeting of the State Duma's Standing Committee on Rules in Moscow on Monday. "I would like to emphasise we in no case deprive those US media representatives of the accreditation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They are able to freely continue working as journalists in the Russian Federation," Zakharova noted. Zakharova's statement comes shortly after the US Congress withdrew RT America's accreditation on Capitol Hill. The spokesperson confirmed that Moscow's retaliatory measure would only apply to "those media which are funded by US Department of State and BBG." However, she refrained from naming the media organisations, saying instead, ''Let it be a surprise."
